Today Alawa Primary hosted a special NAIDOC assembly to support and showcase the importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages. The choir sand the Australian anthem beautifully in Luritja, a central Australian language and a special thanks goes to Ms Waterhouse for all her work in preparing the students for today. Years 1/2 Bernardino and Majid then lead the choir in wonderful singing display of Taba Naba, a Torres Strait Island Dance for children. It is about children going to the reef for a swim and having fun with their families and friends. Thank you to all families and friends of Alawa that attended our special assembly and for the staff that organised another great event.
